How will you make an impact in this role?
The Enterprise Technology Services organization partners with every part of the American Express business to power the company’s growth and innovation with trust and efficiency, and drive competitive differentiation with speed, by supporting the delivery and operations of technology capabilities, platforms, and services globally. Specifically, the team is responsible for the company’s technology engineering, architecture, and infrastructure, providing 24x7 support to ensure an uninterrupted, high-quality experience for external customers and internal colleagues. It also encompasses product management for core enterprise platforms, as well as technology risk and information security; enterprise data governance and platforms; and digital product and design across the American Express enterprise.
Responsibilities
- Monitor system performance and ensure optimal functionality
- Investigate and resolve incidents and problems, including root cause analysis
- Implement agreed remedies and preventative measures to maintain system integrity
- Support application maintenance, including performance monitoring, minor enhancements, and backup and recovery processes
- Develop and deploy preventative maintenance procedures
- Manage service support activities, including access control, application installation, and retirement of outdated systems
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure quality standards during development and implementation phases under supervision
- Maintain best practices and knowledge repositories for continuous service improvement
- Conduct disaster recovery testing and post‑implementation reviews to ensure system resilience
- Collaborate and co‑create effectively with teams in product and the business to align technology initiatives with business objectives
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, or comparable experience; advanced degree preferred. 1+ years of varied experience in software engineering or service delivery.Proficient English – verbal and written communication skills.Knowledge of network protocols and technologies.Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation tasks.Experience in cloud administration, IT asset management and automation tools and / or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) in a technology or financial services organization.Experience in leading and managing technology operations teams, providing leadership and mentorship.Experience in collaborating with senior stakeholders to drive software solutions and innovation.Expertise in managing and maintaining technology infrastructure, including servers, networks, and cloud services.Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.Expertise in system administration, network configuration, and troubleshooting.Experience in technology operations work.Preferred Qualifications
Certification such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ is a plus.Public Cloud certification is a plus.
DevOps knowledge for highly available IT infrastructure.Building live production APIs and services.Hands‑on expertise with application design, software development and automated testing.Experience with relevant business domain related functions.Benefits
