OVERVIEW

The Data Analyst position focuses on the curation of data so that it is useful for business functions and meets client needs. There is a broad spectrum of skills and responsibilities to support this function. A Data Analyst operates within a larger Data Management function. The role is a combination of high level business acumen and intimate knowledge of the technical data specifics.

Within Urban Science, a Data Analyst generally deals with data that is used in products and services that Urban Science sells to its customers. That data comes from diverse sources, clients, venders and technologies, and requires considerable processing and integration to deliver the insights that are beneficial to our customers. The Data Analyst has a high level of responsibility to ensure the data processing results in a quality level that meets the needs of the business functions.

The successful candidate will demonstrate assumed ownership and responsibility of projects along with the communication skills required across complex client and stakeholder environments.

Workplace flexibility has taken on a whole new meaning here at Urban Science. The requirements of each team, role and employee can look quite different. Leaders work with their teams to determine the right balance for working in-person and remotely, considering the needs of the business, our clients, cross-functional projects, individual work, and individual preference. This role has current Hybrid Workplace flexibility local to our Mexico office location. Candidate must be available and willing to work in-person one day per month, and ad hoc as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage Urban Science client databases, extract and manipulate data utilizing Urban Science proprietary software and commercial tooling
  • Ad hoc and ongoing processing of data
  • Data profiling and anomaly detection
  • Apply data analysis methods and tools to enhance data cleansing and readiness for use
  • Automate and create efficiencies in data processing
  • Assume responsibility for quality of data on assigned projects
  • Create and generate data reports and deliverables
  • Tier 2 and general system support functions
  • Manage access control into data processing systems
  • Ensuring data confidentiality and regulatory compliance

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to collect, analyze, interpret data results
  • Identification of patterns and trends in data sets
  • Data wrangling and cleansing
  • Root cause analysis and problem-solving for data incidents
  • Ability to select tools for data processing improvements
  • EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum Baccalaureate degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited U.S. college or university, equivalent foreign institution is preferred. Non-technical degrees may be considered if candidate possesses appropriate level of analytical and technical knowledge and experience required for the role
  • 3+ years related work experience required
  • 1+ years with scripting and / or compiled languages
  • GIS experience a plus : geoprocessing, spatial analysis and mapping
