Position Summary

The Vice President of Finance will serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and leadership team, overseeing the company\'s financial strategy, reporting, and capital allocation decisions. This role is critical to shaping the financial foundation that supports Modena Health\'s rapid growth and national expansion. With accounting managed by an outsourced provider, the VP of Finance will focus on high-level analysis, financial planning, and operational process improvements. Key responsibilities include building robust financial models, evaluating investment opportunities, optimizing resource allocation, and providing clear, actionable insights to drive sustainable, profitable growth. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical finance skills with a strategic mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting and Analysis : Develop and implement advanced financial reporting systems to monitor key metrics, including accounts receivable (AR) aging, collection rates, and biller productivity. Use these insights to assess the effectiveness of our billing team and recommend staffing adjustments to optimize performance and reduce days sales outstanding (DSO).
  • Revenue Cycle Management : Lead improvements in the revenue recognition cycle, from patient intake and coding to claims submission, denials management, and collections. Collaborate with our outsourced accounting firm to streamline processes, ensure compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GAAP), and maximize revenue capture in a medical practice setting.
  • Capital Allocation and Strategic Planning : Analyze financial data to guide capital investment decisions, such as equipment purchases, facility expansions, or technology upgrades. Provide forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis to support long-term growth and resource allocation.
  • Operational Efficiency : Partner with clinical and administrative teams to integrate financial operations with practice management, identifying cost-saving opportunities and enhancing overall fiscal health.
  • Compliance and Risk Management : Ensure adherence to financial policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements specific to healthcare finance.
  • Team Leadership and Collaboration : Mentor junior finance staff (if applicable) and work closely with external accountants to align on goals, while fostering a positive, enthusiastic team environment.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education : Advanced degree in finance, accounting, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience : 5+ years in finance roles, with at least 1-2 years in healthcare financial operations (e.g., medical practices, clinics, or hospitals). Proven track record in revenue cycle management, AR optimization, and financial reporting in a growth-oriented environment.
  • Licensure & Certifications : MBA or CPA certification required
  • Skills & Abilities :
  • Strong analytical abilities with expertise in financial software.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools for creating dashboards and reports.
  • Knowledge of healthcare-specific financial metrics and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and comfortable leveraging technology to improve processes.
  • Interest in emerging technologies, including AI tools, with a curiosity for applying innovation to financial operations.
  • Positive, enthusiastic demeanor with a genuine desire to make a difference in patient care and organizational success.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to collaborate across teams, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Compensation

    The annual salary range for this position is $160,000-200,000 / year. The actual compensation for this role will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate\'s skills, education, and experience.

    Physical Requirements

    Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the clinic, if applicable, for extended periods; occasionally lift objects up to 25 lbs., bend, stoop, or reach as needed. Frequent use of hands and fingers for patient care and equipment operation. Must have normal (or corrected) vision and hearing and be able to respond quickly in a fast-paced clinical environment, if applicable.
