Overview

The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for development, management, and maintenance of enterprise infrastructure, build systems, and applications. Working closely with developers, this role will focus on maintaining and improving the Bazel-based build ecosystem, managing CI / CD pipelines, ensuring reliability of build farms, and addressing complex challenges in package management and infrastructure automation. The engineer will also mentor teammates, provide on-call technical expertise, and train the team to sustainably manage and scale the environment.

Responsibilities

Build Systems & Bazel Expertise – Maintain, monitor, and optimize Bazel build farm and remote executors; troubleshoot build issues across Python, Go, and C / C++ codebases; improve and enforce Python package management practices to reduce complexity and technical debt; support and evolve workflows for large monorepos (mix of on-prem GitHub + Jenkins and GitHub Cloud + CircleCI).
CI / CD & Infrastructure Automation – Design, maintain, and optimize CI / CD pipelines across multiple systems; implement Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform, Ansible, and Helm; ensure scalability, reliability, and repeatability of builds and deployments.
Operational Support & Training – Provide hands-on technical support and address build / infrastructure issues as part of on-call rotation; mentor and train team members to increase their self-sufficiency in maintaining Bazel build infrastructure and CI / CD pipelines.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement – Improve monitoring and alerting for build systems and infrastructure to proactively detect issues; document best practices, processes, and troubleshooting guides for knowledge transfer.

Required Qualifications / Skills

Bachelor’s degree (B.S. / B.A.) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.

4+ years of related experience in DevOps, build engineering, or infrastructure roles.

Hands-on experience with Bazel build system, including maintaining build farms and remote executors.

Strong expertise in Python and C++ / Go build pipelines, including dependency / package management.

Familiarity with monorepo strategies and managing CI / CD for multiple repositories at scale.

Experience with CI / CD tools such as Jenkins and CircleCI.

Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools : Terraform, Ansible, Helm.

Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and on-call operational support experience.

Proven ability to mentor and train teams, with strong communication and collaboration skills.

Solid understanding of distributed systems, monitoring, and alerting practices.
