As a Microsoft Data Center Inventory & Asset Technician (DIAT), you will perform cycle audits, execute incoming / outgoing deliveries, coordinate security escorts for third‑party vendors, and document inbound and outbound deliveries. This opportunity allows you to deepen your knowledge of inventory management principles, warranty process management, data‑bearing device destruction, and advance your career in the process.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned tasks and escalated issues during high‑volume work activity or escalation‑based situations.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to initiate warranty claim and process failed vendor hardware devices, including packaging, shipment, and receipt of return for RMA devices following SLAs.
  • Leverage process knowledge and best judgment to complete tasks with minimal direct supervision.
  • Maintain focus on the impact of work on completed tickets and IAM tasks.
  • Maintain and steward up‑to‑date and accurate information within inventory management systems.
  • Ensure detailed physical inventory tracking and staging.
  • Help reconcile and report inventory discrepancies.
  • Perform destruction of data‑bearing devices following SLAs and Microsoft policies.
  • Notify management about ordering stock shortages and escale issues to management.
  • Comply with security and data management policies.
  • Embody Microsoft’s culture and values.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma AND 1+ year(s) experience in warehouse / supply chain in an IT environment, inventory management, retail, or related field.
  • Equivalent experience acceptable.
  • Understanding of inventory controls (reception, shipping, inventory cycle).
  • Basic understanding of ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Salesforce.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English.
  • Background Check Requirements

  • Must meet Microsoft, customer or government security screening requirements, including Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire / transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ year(s) experience in warehouse / supply chain in an IT environment, logistics, or operating heavy‑load movement equipment such as forklift, pallet jack, or chassis lift.
  • Equivalent experience acceptable.
