Production Manager 2
Provides direct and indirect supervision to subordinate team leaders and professional employees performing diverse roles. Works with in‑depth knowledge of professional standards and precedents to set and achieve objectives, recommend policy changes, develop policies and budgets, and coordinate multi‑functional teams.
Summary
Responsible for department performance, budget management, hiring / firing decisions, performance reviews, and cross‑functional relationship building. Maintains positive relationships with key customers, suppliers, and senior managers.
Responsibilities
- Manages resources responsible for assembly, testing and repair of products in a manufacturing site with fewer than 400 employees.
- Plans, manages and controls department performance by establishing direction and priorities.
- Establishes policies and guidelines, evaluates results and sets realistic production goals.
- Recommends and manages the work unit budget.
- Advocates for and allocates resources, tools, equipment and support to meet production requirements.
- Interfaces between production and other product‑related functions.
- Promotes quality workmanship and continuous improvement in all manufacturing processes.
- Participates in cross‑functional product teams and process improvement groups.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
In‑depth knowledge of the production process and related tools and equipment.Understanding of the business unit and impact on customer satisfaction, product quality, on‑time delivery and profitability.Coordination of resources to meet production quality and quantity metrics.Effective communication with internal and external customers.Leadership and management of a diverse employee group in a high‑dynamic environment.Proficiency in Word, Lotus Notes, Excel, PowerPoint.Physical Demands
Manufacturing environment with noise, dust, chemicals, machinery and temperature extremes.Periodic sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or detailed data.Occasional overnight travel.Health and safety guidelines are applied locally.Typical Experience
Seven to ten years of relevant experience.Typical Education
