Overview

The Ocean & Air Procurement Manager is responsible for leading, developing, and supervising the pricing team specialized in international maritime and air freight. This role manages contract negotiations with ocean carriers (FCL / LCL) and airlines / GSAs, ensures cost accuracy, maintains updated pricing databases, and supports global RFQs / RFIs. The leader must anticipate market conditions, design competitive strategies, and deliver fast, effective solutions to improve profitability and customer satisfaction, while building long-term strategic relationships with carriers worldwide.

Hard Skills

  • Air freight pricing and negotiation with airlines / GSAs
  • RFQs / RFIs global management
  • Deep knowledge of Incoterms and international compliance (IATA, FMC, IMO)
  • Freight forwarding industry tools and TMS (CargoWise, WebCargo, INTTRA, etc.)
  • Minimum 7 years in logistics and freight forwarding (at least 6 years in management)
  • Experience leading +10 people structures

Key Responsibilities

  • Negotiate and maintain the most competitive global rates with airlines and ocean carriers
  • Increase profit margins and quotation success ratio in ocean and air divisions
  • Lead RFQ / RFI processes ensuring compliance and profitability
  • Analyse market trends and historical data to identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Develop and implement pricing innovation tools and strategies
  • Establish and follow up KPIs such as :
  • Cost savings % vs. market
  • Fill rate / space utilization
  • On-time rate agreements with carriers
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with key carriers and global associations
  • Deliver monthly performance reports to the Operations Director
  • Ensure alignment with Sales, Operations, and Quality teams
