Other responsibilities will include quality improvements, value optimization, weight reduction and other efficiency improvement initiatives including communicating technical product status to management. The Design Release Engineer will interact with suppliers and will work closely with internal and external groups such as testing and prototype labs, CAE engineers, vehicle program team, supplier operations and manufacturing plants.

Responsibilities

  • Design, development, timing and production release of a system / component within Fuels Systems
  • Quality improvements, value optimization, weight reduction and other efficiency improvement initiatives
  • Communicating technical product status to management
  • Interacting with suppliers and working closely with internal and external groups

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in Fuel Systems components, such as : filler pipes, fuel caps / capless units, chassis bundles, fuel and vapor lines.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering is required. Must be from an ABET accredited university / or equivalent. BSME preferred.
  • Required Skills

  • Experience in Fuel Systems components :
  • Fuel Storage & Delivery

  • Fuel tank – stores the fuel.
  • Fuel tank filler neck & cap – entry point for refueling, sealed for vapor control.
  • Fuel pump (in-tank or external) – moves fuel from tank to engine.
  • Fuel pump strainer (sock filter) – initial filtration inside tank.
  • Fuel sending unit – measures fuel level.
  • Fuel lines / pipes – carry fuel (metal or reinforced plastic).
  • Fuel hoses & couplings – flexible connections.
  • Fuel filter – removes contaminants before injection.
  • Fuel rail – common manifold delivering fuel to injectors.
  • Fuel pressure regulator – maintains consistent fuel pressure.
  • Fuel injectors – atomize fuel into intake air or directly into cylinder.
  • Air-Fuel Mixing & Combustion Management

  • Throttle body (for gasoline engines) – regulates airflow to intake manifold.
  • Carburetor (older vehicles) – mixes fuel and air (replaced by EFI today).
  • Intake manifold – distributes air-fuel mixture to cylinders.
  • Fuel pressure sensor – monitors fuel pressure for ECU control.
  • Mass airflow sensor (MAF) & Manifold absolute pressure sensor (MAP) – measure intake air for fuel calculation.
  • Oxygen sensors (O2 sensors / lambda sensors) – monitor exhaust gases for mixture adjustment.
  • Engine Control Unit (ECU) – calculates fuel injection timing and duration.
