Criminal Records Investigator

We are looking for a Criminal Records Investigator to join our team. This role is essential in supporting our legal processes by obtaining, reviewing, and processing clients’ criminal records with accuracy and efficiency. The investigator will play a key role in ensuring that sensitive information is handled ethically and that legal teams have the records they need to build strong cases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on client criminal records in FBI, state, and federal databases.
  • Contact state and federal courts to request certified copies of records.
  • Verify and validate client personal data (names, birthdates, case numbers).
  • Detect inconsistencies, duplications, or errors in information.
  • Organize and manage documents in internal systems (Dropbox, MyCase, Airtable).
  • Maintain detailed logs of requests, responses, and obtained records.
  • Communicate findings clearly with attorneys, paralegals, and Client Liaisons.
  • Prioritize urgent cases and follow up persistently until records are obtained.

Required Skills

  • Basic knowledge of the U.S. legal system and court operations.
  • Advanced English (reading and understanding legal documents).
  • Research skills across multiple databases and sources.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
  • High level of ethics and professionalism in handling sensitive data.
  • Tech-savvy : comfortable with browsers, databases, and document management tools.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
