About Company and Role
The company is a well‑established mental health and substance‑use treatment clinic that serves individuals with therapy, medication management, DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), and outpatient services.
We are now expanding our administrative and billing team to support our clinical services and ensure that our billing, claims, and insurance processes are accurate, timely and fully compliant. This role will work remotely to handle critical billing, claims follow‑up and AR functions for commercial, Medicaid and Medicare claims across our psychotherapy, psychiatric and substance‑abuse service lines.

Job Responsibilities :
- Billing commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare insurance claims for individual therapy, psychiatric, and substance abuse facility services
- Credential psychotherapists and psychiatric providers with commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare
- Precertification of treatment episodes.
- Spearhead debt collection efforts
- Prepare paperwork on old claims to send to debt collection agency.
- Preparing client billing statements
- Actively work on and manage insurance AR to resolve outstanding or denied claims
- Answer calls related to client accounts such as bills and balances, which may include : taking payments, explaining bills, assembling receipts for payments, investigating payment discrepancies
- Manage client payment plans by coordinating agreement terms, running cards according to agreement, and following up with clients whose cards decline
- Auditing client accounts, billing statements, and claims to ensure accuracy
- Verifying client insurance coverage and benefits for ongoing appointments
- Troubleshoot accounts receivable issues
- Oversee daily billing, verification of benefits, and EOB entries
- Submit daily volume, weekly productivity, and monthly A / R reports to the Director
- Other duties as assigned.
Key Skills :
Advance proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly ExcelAssume role of liaison between billing and other departmentsExperience with Medicaid and familiarity with OptumAbility to differentiate between CMS-1500 and UB-04 claimsKnowledge of Substance Abuse and Mental Health CPT and revenue codesStrong familiarity with major commercial insurance plans and policy types, specifically BCBS, Aetna, Cigna, Johns Hopkins, United Healthcare, and MedicaidInterpersonal skills, organization, and excellent boundaries required.Knowledge of Therapy Appointment and ICANotes a plus.
