We are looking for a Data Privacy & Governance Specialist based in Mexico City to strengthen our privacy and data governance program, ensuring compliance with global regulations (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) and cybersecurity best practices.
This is a hybrid role , requiring periodic on-site presence in our Mexico City office.
English proficiency is required for this position , as the role involves collaboration with international teams and reviewing global documentation.
The ideal candidate has strong experience in data protection, risk assessments, policy development, audits, and privacy-related incident response.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage data privacy and governance policies and procedures aligned with global laws and industry standards.
- Collaborate with legal, security, IT, and cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with data protection and privacy regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments related to data privacy and security, providing actionable recommendations to mitigate potential threats.
- Oversee data classification and access control to ensure proper identification, protection, and secure handling of sensitive data.
- Perform regular audits to ensure adherence to privacy and governance practices.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of data protection measures, proposing enhancements when necessary.
- Support incident response planning and management for data privacy breaches or cybersecurity incidents.
- Stay up to date with evolving privacy laws, regulations, and cybersecurity trends, advising leadership on compliance obligations.
- Provide training and guidance to employees on data privacy, governance best practices, and cybersecurity intersections.
- Prepare reports for senior leadership and regulatory bodies, including compliance audits, risk assessments, and incident management documentation.
Requirements
Previous experience in Data Privacy, Data Governance, or Cybersecurity .Strong knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, or other relevant data protection regulations.Experience creating and implementing internal policies and procedures.Knowledge of risk assessments, access controls, data classification, and audit practices.Experience working with legal, IT, and security teams is a plus.Strong analytical skills and effective communication abilities.English preferred (intermediate–advanced).What We Offer
