Overview

The position provides product engineering technical support in the El Salto plant to coordinate and perform design and development engineering, champion engineering warranty solutions, and implement design cost reductions. Central activities include technical problem solving, design change ideation, concept evaluation, design, technical risk analysis, and overall improvement of existing products.

Responsibilities

• Provide the El Salto plant with technical problem solving (e.g., 8D lead and support) capability, including analysis of hardware for failure modes, analysis of design and manufacturing processes for root causes and corrective actions.
• Support El Salto manufacturing operations, including supply chain, in solving production or process problems to ensure that product meets requirements of reliability, quality, and cost.
• Release designs of El Salto products (e.g., chain timing drives, oil pump chains, VCT) in conformance with product design guidelines and BW process.
• Work collaboratively with global product engineering, sales, program management, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain personnel to achieve goals set forth by regional engineering management and local plant management.
• Keeps the regional and global product engineering management team informed of activity and progress on an agreed upon frequency.
• Keeps the local plant management team informed of activity and progress on an agreed upon frequency.
• Lead DRBFM, DFMEA, DVP&R, and DFM / DFA reviews.
• Identify new concepts that address weaknesses within the current product portfolio or technology roadmap.
