Tooling Manager 5&6
Objective
Responsible for leading the strategy, design, procurement, maintenance, and continuous improvement of tooling systems across the manufacturing operations. This role ensures that tooling supports production targets in terms of safety, quality, cost, and delivery. The Tooling Manager leads a team of engineers, technicians, and external suppliers to guarantee reliable, efficient, and innovative tooling solutions while aligning with company standards and customer requirements.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the tooling strategy to support production capacity, new product launches, and process improvements.
- Lead and manage the tooling engineering team, providing guidance, training, and performance management.
- Oversee the design, validation, and commissioning of new tooling (dies, molds, fixtures, jigs, gauges).
- Manage tooling budgets, investments, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Ensure tooling availability and performance through preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, maintenance, quality, product engineering) to align tooling with operational requirements.
- Evaluate tooling suppliers, manage sourcing activities, and oversee external tooling projects.
- Implement best practices, standards, and continuous improvement methodologies in tooling management.
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for tooling-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and industry regulations.
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (Master's preferred)Advanced English requiredMore than 7 years of experience in tooling engineering, with at least 3 in a leadership role.Strong knowledge of tooling design, fabrication, and maintenance (dies, molds, jigs, fixtures, gauges).Experience with CAD / CAM tools (CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, or equivalent).Knowledge of lean manufacturing, DFMA, and Six Sigma methodologies.Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills.Proven ability to manage budgets, suppliers, and complex projects.
