Overview
Engineering Manager for Security Standards and Hardening at Canonical (Ubuntu). This role leads the security standards for open source software across the Ubuntu platform, including desktops, servers, edge devices, cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, and OpenStack. The focus areas include cryptographic modules (FIPS 140) and system hardening, with collaboration with partners such as CIS and DISA to define secure OS deployments.
As an Engineering Manager, you will provide line management and career guidance, represent your team and product technically, and drive collaboration with other teams and customers to deliver security-focused outcomes.
What you will do
- Lead and develop a team of engineers from graduate to senior levels
- Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback
- Identify and measure team health indicators
- Implement disciplined engineering processes
- Represent the team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers
- Develop and evangelise strong engineering and organizational practices
- Plan and manage progress on agreed goals and projects
- Support products and customers to meet strict security requirements such as FIPS, CIS, STIG, FedRAMP and the CRA
- Address cryptography modules (FIPS 140) and system hardening efforts with industry partners including CIS and DISA
