You will provide legal and privacy guidance to Sony’s global Data Transformation (DX) teams and lead initiatives to ensure compliance with global privacy regulations, especially in emerging technologies and cross-group data projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise DX teams on privacy matters for new or materially changed initiatives.
- Drive compliance with global privacy frameworks and program requirements (data sharing, marketing, unified IDs, etc.).
- Collaborate with Sony legal teams worldwide and outside counsel on regulatory requirements, filings, and interactions with data protection authorities and European Works Councils.
- Strengthen governance, controls, and documentation, and address privacy findings.
- Stay current on global privacy laws, regulations, and emerging privacy technologies.
- Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments and serve as a privacy subject matter expert.
- Support Sr. Counsel / Privacy Officer with reporting on global privacy projects.
- Uphold high standards of honesty, ethics, and integrity.
Qualifications & Experience
5–8 years of relevant legal experience applying U.S. and international privacy laws in a business context.In-house experience in a multinational corporation or top-tier law firm strongly preferred.5+ years of experience operationalizing data privacy in legal, compliance, security, IT, or consulting roles.Practical privacy experience; CIPP / CIPT certifications strongly preferred.Experience with global privacy programs, including GDPR.Experience drafting privacy compliance documentation and conducting PIAs.Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex issues.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.Ability to manage multiple initiatives and engage with executives at all levels.Ability to travel internationally up to 20%.Legally authorized to work in Mexico and able to travel to the U.S.Fluency in English required.
