Senior Data Engineer (Java + Spark)

Job Description :

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will oversee all technical aspects of our database layer that powers not only the global application but also over 70+ mission-critical servicing applications. The successful candidate will focus on implementing our Point of Arrival (POA) database technologies, including but not limited to Postgres and Spark, while also delivering against critical business initiatives.

Requirements :

• Candidate will be expected to come into the office at least 3 days a week in Mexico City.
• 6+ years of software development experience in a professional environment and / or comparable experience such as :
• Wide breadth of engineering experience.
• Proven experience leading teams of engineers.
• Hands-on expertise with application design, software development, and automated testing.
• Experience with distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, and relational databases.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer science engineering, or related experience required; advanced degree preferred.
• Deep understanding of database domain and industry standards (e.g., Partitioning, lock management, SQL optimization, capacity planning, Data Migrations, etc...)
• Java : 3+ years.
• Spark : 3+ years.
• RDBMs : 2+ years.
• Proven experience leading and mentoring engineering teams, including setting technical direction and driving execution across multiple initiatives.
• Expertise in designing and developing distributed systems with a focus on performance, scalability, and security.
• Familiarity with modern DevOps practices and CI / CD pipelines.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience engaging cross-functional teams including product, design, and infosec.
• Advanced English :
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
