Job Summary

Caterpillar’s Drivetrain team designs systems and components, including axle housings, spindles, planet carriers, cases, clutch and brake components that are used across Caterpillar machines and OEM applications. The team is also a centralized resource for designing and validating drivetrain components that are exposed to ground induced structural loads. These components are primarily cast iron, cast steel, or steel forgings. This role is for an experienced metallurgist to provide technical guidance and support for the extended design team. This specific role includes :

• Iron Casting Metallurgical & Process expert for the Drivetrain Component Design Team
• Support Design Engineers in material selection and design for manufacturing on new part designs
• Provide technical guidance and assessment in resolving metallurgical field failures and part quality issues.
• Provide technical assessment of foundry selection and approve metallurgical validation for sourcing projects.
