The Position
Sitting within the Operational Services Department, Guest Operations (along with Accommodation, Transport, Language Services, Logistics, Travel, and Arrivals & Departures) aims to deliver the most engaging, innovative, and accessible World Cup experience for all athletes, fans, partners, and the community.
Reporting to the Senior Manager Guest Operations & Stadiums - Mexico, you will support guest operations for FIFA World Cup 2026 across 3 countries and 16 venues, coordinating and maintaining a strategic overview of guest operations for 13 FIFA Men's World Cup 2026 matches in Mexico (Guadalajara, Mexico City, Monterrey).
You will oversee the implementation strategy, tools, and operational plans for seamless provision of integrated event services (e.g., travel, transport, accommodation, hospitality) to FIFA guest groups within Mexico.
The main responsibilities of the Protocol Manager - Mexico include :
Implementation of the overall FIFA Men's World Cup 2026 Protocol strategy for the matches in Mexico.
With approval from the Head of Guest Operations : implement high-level Protocol services, liaising with local Government Agencies and Mexican Embassies on invitations and other Guest requirements for FIFA Men's World Cup 2026 in Mexico.
Define relevant guest groups and related levels of Protocol services for the tournament in Mexico.
Conduct Mexico-specific training on Protocol matters, including customs, behaviors, and cultural considerations when hosting dignitaries and people in positions of influence.
Act as the key contact for high-ranking Mexican dignitaries and government representatives in the lead up to and throughout the matches in Mexico.
Implement Protocol Guidelines including decision-making processes and Principles of VVIP Seating in Mexico.
Implement protocol requirements at all FIFA World Cup 2026 stadiums in Mexico and have knowledge of VVIP / VIP spaces, lounges, seating, drop-off zones, and flows.
Manage all protocol services, including seating charts, forms of address, ceremonial matters, guest welcoming, and arranging premium experiences.
Work closely with FIFA World Cup 2026 Protocol Manager - US to ensure protocol services and processes are aligned with FWC26 Protocol guidelines.
Oversee day-to-day Mexico operations of the Protocol sub-functions and report on activities and outcomes as required.
Attend site visits and inspections in Mexico.
Your Profile

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (business administration, management, leadership, entrepreneurship, public relations, political science).
Extensive relevant work experience and strong knowledge of Protocol and / or experience engaging with people in positions of influence and importance, such as politicians, academic representatives and C-Level leaders.
5+ years in Protocol management.
Experience within a sports / event organization or mega project, preferably a world-class sport event.
Experience in working with Government departments / representatives.
Exceptional attention to detail and high level of diplomacy.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong Project Management skills.
Advanced skills in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Time management and the ability to prioritize a varied workload.
Willingness to work outside core hours (online workshops accommodating different time zones).
Excellent organizational and planning skills.
Good networking skills.
