What's the opportunity?
As our Head of LATAM Public Affairs, you will lead dLocal's public affairs strategy across Latin America, driving engagement with government, regulatory, and industry stakeholders to support our business objectives and reputation.
You will act as the primary representative for dLocal in public policy matters, regulatory forums, and industry associations, ensuring proactive advocacy and alignment with our global vision.
This role reports to the Global Head of Corporate Affairs and collaborates closely with regional leadership, Legal, Compliance, Communications, and Business Development teams.
What will I be doing?
Develop and execute a comprehensive public affairs strategy for the LATAM region, aligned with dLocal's global objectives and local market needsBuild and manage relationships with government agencies, regulators, policymakers, and industry associations to advocate for dLocal's interests and enable business growthMonitor and analyze legislative, regulatory, and policy developments across LATAM markets, providing timely insights and recommendations to senior leadershipLead dLocal's response to public policy challenges and opportunities, including drafting position papers, preparing testimony, and representing the company in public forumsCollaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Compliance, Communications, and Business Development to ensure alignment on public affairs initiatives and messagingManage crisis communications and issues management related to public policy or regulatory matters in the regionRepresent dLocal at industry events, conferences, and stakeholder meetings to strengthen our market reputation and influenceOversee the development of advocacy campaigns and coalition-building efforts to support business objectivesEnsure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards in public affairs activitiesLead, mentor, and develop a high-performing public affairs function across key LATAM markets by supporting Country managers to act on your behalfCoordinate media and comms products to support public affairs narratives across the region
What skills do I need?
Bachelor's degree in Political Science, International Relations, Law, Public Policy, Communications, or a related field; advanced degree preferredMinimum 10 years of experience in public affairs, government relations, or regulatory affairs, with significant exposure to the LATAM regionProven track record of engaging with government officials, regulators, and industry associations in Latin AmericaDeep understanding of the political, economic, and regulatory landscape across key LATAM marketsExceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English and Spanish (Portuguese is a strong plus)Experience managing complex, cross-functional projects and leading teams in a matrixed, multicultural environmentStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to anticipate and respond to emerging public policy issuesHigh ethical standards and a commitment to compliance and corporate integrityExperience working in a multinational corporation, ideally in fintech, payments, or technology sectors, is a strong plusDemonstrated success in developing and executing public affairs strategies that drive business outcomesEstablished network of contacts within government, regulatory, and industry circles in major LATAM markets (e.g., Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Chile)Experience navigating crisis situations and managing sensitive regulatory or reputational issuesAbility to travel frequently within the LATAM region as required
