A Snapshot of Your Day

The Systems Specialist is a central member of the mechanical design team, managing solution requirements, project risks, and driving verification and validation of design solutions to meet project requirements. In this role you are responsible for integrating requirements and verification between component and subsystem levels of Gas Turbines, using principles and tools of systems engineering.

Where the validation and verification strategy calls for it, you will define and coordinate required development activities : bench test, engine build, engine test, and post‑test evidence gathering. Mechanical design teams are dynamic, with other specialists joining as needed. As the Systems Specialist, alongside the Project Designer, you are present from problem definition through solution implementation.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• You will work with technical specialists and the Product groups to capture and flow down requirements from GT System to sub‑system requirements.
• You will look for opportunities to build on prior knowledge and fleet experience to build the verification and validation strategy.
• Bringing all inputs together, you will develop and drive structured verification plans to demonstrate compliance of the solution with the requirements.
• You will coordinate team input to understand how the engineering solution affects project and technical risk and develop risk treatment plans and propose mitigations.
• As the design solutions approach production, you will coordinate the validation and verification work with all engineering functions involved : Mechanical Integrity; Aerothermal, Secondary Air systems, Thermals, Whole Engine Dynamics, Performance.
• In response to field failures, you will take part in root cause analysis for sub‑systems of which you’ve developed broad knowledge.
