Senior Molding Maintenance Engineer

Senior Molding Maintenance Engineer to lead and support the maintenance of molding equipment, tooling, and auxiliary systems within a high‑volume manufacturing environment. This role will ensure maximum equipment uptime, reliability, and performance while supporting continuous improvement and preventive maintenance initiatives. The ideal candidate will have deep hands‑on experience with injection molding machines, tooling systems, and automated auxiliary equipment in an automotive or high‑precision manufacturing environment.

  • Lead troubleshooting, repair, and optimization of molding equipment including injection molding machines, hydraulic / pneumatic systems, robotics, hot runners, and chillers.
  • Supervise and mentor maintenance technicians in best practices for molding equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Ensure proper installation, alignment, and validation of new molding machinery and tooling.
  • Collaborate with Process Engineering and Production teams to identify and resolve chronic equipment and tooling issues.
  • Analyze downtime and maintenance data to identify trends and drive root‑cause corrective actions (RCCA).
  • Manage and maintain documentation including maintenance logs, repair records, equipment manuals, and maintenance SOPs.
  • Support mold / tool changeovers and assist in tool maintenance, cleaning, and repair strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, electrical / mechanical codes, and internal quality standards (IATF 16949, ISO 14001, etc.).
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers for complex repairs, rebuilds, or upgrades.
  • Work in coordination with other departments to improve plant‑wide productivity.
  • Create and manage new projects for capital investment, human resources, and new equipment or tooling requirements.
  • Attend Technical Change Board (TCB) meetings.
  • Ensure the development and implementation of continuous improvement projects to reduce waste.
  • Ensure PPAP’s, test runs, engineering changes are executed based on APQP dates and responsibilities, reviewing results and taking corrective actions, and managing resources for necessary runs.
  • Provide regular communication with the Department Manager and offer immediate feedback concerning potential failures or obstacles to achieving established goals.
  • Provide design and / or tooling feedback to suppliers.
  • Attend training and applicable workshops.
  • Any other activities as deemed appropriate by the Department Manager.
  • Provide support to the quoting and Design department to define and estimate new projects in terms of process and equipment required.
  • Apply the Gentherm Value creation system.

Management System & CSR

  • Take part and comply with the requirements of the Quality Management System IATF 16949, Environmental Management System – ISO 14001 and Occupational Health, Safety Management System – ISO 45001 and TISAX (Trusted Information Security Assessment Exchange), corresponding to the position. Prepare evidence of compliance and support audits.
  • Ensure that you and the personnel under your charge (when applicable) are trained according to their position in everything related to the Management System : Quality – IATF 16949, Environmental – ISO 14001, Occupational Health and Safety – ISO 45001 and TISAX, making a timely detection of training needs.
  • Responsible for understanding and compliance with Information Security Policies.

    • Minimum Qualifications

  • Batch’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent technical training with strong relevant experience.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in molding equipment maintenance (especially injection molding) in an automotive or manufacturing setting.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Familiarity with molding machines from OEMs such as Engel, Krauss‑Maffei, Arburg, Husky, or similar.
  • Knowledge of hot runner systems, mold temperature control units, and automated material handling systems.
  • Working knowledge of PLCs (Siemens, Allen‑Bradley), sensors, and robotics is a strong advantage.
  • Experience using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
  • Strong understanding of OSHA safety requirements and lockout / tagout procedures.

  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP).
  • RJG System Maintenance or Troubleshooting Certification.

    • Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

    The COD (Customer Oriented Design Engineer) will be responsible for exploring, developing, and driving efforts to get the best and optimized solution for different customer requests with focus in all the core cases portfolio. The COD will lead and solve complex problems and participate in the specification, design by developing a deep understanding of customer needs and translating them into functional solutions to provide safe and effective products.

    Responsibilities

  • Develop engineer solutions with cost and manufacturing optimization.
  • Creation of structural design, piping design, creation of 3D models, assemblies and drawings to create specifications.
  • Responsible to fulfill the customer needs in terms of time wise and functionality through the implementation of the engineering developed as a solution of the request.
  • Coordinate a cross functional team involved in the implementation of the solution given.
  • Developing new mechanical solutions that meet all customer and regulatory requirements, including proper component selection, sizing, protection, and conformance with industry standards.
  • Work as a team always supporting activities related with COD position to achieve KPIs applicable to the area.
  • Responsible to create deviations when COD projects are not completed in the proper time to manufacture our products with changes requested by customer. Also, responsible to following closely the production order involved when deviations are created and applied.
  • Capable of learning different database software and system tools to make more efficient activities.
  • Engage in continuous and personalized learning programs to broaden technical knowledge in mechanical engineering, thermodynamics, and electrical engineering.
  • Review and update engineering documentation, including product, parts and mechanical drawings, mechanical piping diagrams, instructions / MOA´s.
  • Create and communicate project plans, tasks and deliverables and manage time to meet project deadlines. This includes reporting pertinent information key milestones through clear, concise oral and written communications.
  • Mentor other members of the Engineering team to aid in the development of design knowledge.

    • Requirements

  • BS degree(s) in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Electrical, Mechatronics or any similar career. Master’s degree is a PLUS.
  • 3 years’ experience mechanical refrigeration components, implementation, validations and related applications.
  • Good understanding of the English language.
  • Strong analytical skills.

    • Must possess the following skills / competencies

  • Knowledge and hands on experience with using mechanical components in refrigeration or HVAC or other related industry.
  • Experience in validating mechanical components, subcomponents, sheetmetal and pipings.
  • Ability to draft on CAD, minimum requirements in drafting proficiency shall include the ability to create from scratch and edit existing 3D drawings.
  • Experience with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Solid Edge (Similar 3D CAD software).
  • Experience with Bill of Material Structures and Engineering Change processes.
  • Technical understanding of refrigeration system design, electrical and electronic component functionality.

    • Senior Electrical Design Engineer

    We are looking for an experienced Senior Transformer Design Engineer with a strong background in the design of distribution transformers (pad‑mounted and pole‑mounted) for the U.S. and North American markets. The candidate should have a solid understanding of ANSI, IEEE, NEMA, DOE and related U.S. efficiency and safety standards, and be able to lead engineering projects from concept through manufacturing.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of single‑phase and three‑phase distribution transformers (pad‑mounted, pole‑mounted).
  • Perform electrical design calculations, including core and coil design, losses, impedance, temperature rise, and short‑circuit withstand.
  • Ensure all transformer designs comply with ANSI C57, IEEE, DOE Energy Efficiency, and customer‑specific standards.
  • Develop and review approval drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation using AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing, including process troubleshooting and design improvement initiatives.
  • Lead design optimization for cost reduction and manufacturability while maintaining performance and reliability.
  • Support testing and validation of prototype units, interpreting test results and implementing necessary design adjustments.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement and standardization of design practices.
  • Serve as a technical liaison for North American customers, ensuring clarity and alignment on product requirements.

    • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5–8 years of proven experience in distribution transformer design (pad‑mounted, pole‑mounted, or substation type).
  • Strong understanding of ANSI / IEEE / DOE / NEMA standards and U.S. utility specifications.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Creo, or other 2D / 3D design and modeling tools.
  • Knowledge of transformer electrical calculations and magnetic design principles.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment, supporting production and troubleshooting.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (technical communication proficiency required).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.

    • Senior SAP Operations Engineer - SAP MM / SD
