Description

This position develops and implements standards for telecommunication infrastructure (Optic fiber, Energy, VHF, structured cabling, regulatory compliance) in ongoing and new projects, and effectively guide the individuals involved to achieve the goals / milestones set by the Project Manager.

Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction. Solves a range of moderately complex problems. Leads projects of limited scope and portions of larger projects. Provides informal guidance to team members with less experience. Contributes to department objectives and outcomes as guided.

Accountabilities

Consultancy on norms regarding voice and data networks. Includes but not limited to : structured cabling, Optic Fiber, Energy, VHF, rack distribution.
Advice on energy quality standards for powering AC / DC equipment, emergency power system, Solar Energy.
Handling of diagnostic equipment and fault location in the different means of communication.
Exemplifies KCS Vision, Values, and Culture interactions with coworkers, business partners, customers and stakeholders.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

Required

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in a job related major field of study

Minimum two (2) years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience

US - Maintain a Class A Commercial Driver's License for GVW greater than 10,000 pounds.

Mexico - Must maintain a valid driver's license.

Preferred

Ability to travel via driving motorized vehicle.

Availability during normal working hours plus after hours and weekend duties.

Highly organized in both time and in resources; need to manage progress reports

Have a thorough understanding of project objectives and goals

Have excellent interpersonal skills for collaborating effectively with others

Working Conditions

Conduct onsite visits and coordinate with telecoms operations personnel continuously.

Convey and supervise contractors and subcontractors

Conduct quality control for work performed by independent contractors.

Interact clearly, constructively and positively with all organizational departments to ensure projects are completed effectively and with minimal disruption to planned events.

This position has a regular full time schedule with a normal work week of Monday through Friday. There may be a need for occasional work after hours or weekends.

This position may require minimal travel up to 10% of the time.
