The Director of Visual Design & Brand Identity is responsible for driving high-level design initiatives across packaging, digital, branding, and marketing for Mayorga Coffee. This role requires strategic thinking with strong creative vision and the ability to transform complex ideas into simple, beautiful, and effective visual communications that align with the brand’s mission and values.
This person will collaborate cross-functionally to ensure brand consistency across all touchpoints and elevate the brand’s visual identity through thoughtful, creative, and high-quality execution. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, manages multiple projects with ease, and brings a balance of big-picture thinking and detail-oriented design.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead and actively execute the development of creative assets across packaging, web, social, email, print , and digital platforms—this role is both strategic and very hands-on
- Divide and manage design tasks collaboratively with our in-house Graphic Designer to ensure balanced workload and creative alignment
- Translate strategic concepts into clear, compelling, and cohesive designs
- Own and evolve Mayorga’s visual identity across all brand channels
- Manage and mentor designers and / or external creative partners
- Collaborate with marketing and leadership teams to support campaigns and product launches
- Guide packaging design from concept to print-ready files , including understanding production specs
- Build and maintain scalable design systems and templates for efficiency and consistency
- Ensure brand consistency and visual excellence across all creative output
- Present design concepts and integrate feedback across teams
- Oversee timelines and creative workflow to ensure high-quality, on-time delivery
Requirements
Minimum 5 years of high-level design experience , with proven expertise in branding, packaging, and digital designFluent in English and Spanish : written and spokenA strong portfolio showcasing conceptually powerful, visually refined work across print and digital formatsFull mastery of design tools : Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), Figma , and related platformsExperience working with food / beverage or mission-driven brands is strongly preferredDeep understanding of print production, dielines, color management, and packaging specsFamiliarity with CMS and email tools (e.g., Shopify, Klaviyo, Mailchimp)Strong leadership and team management skills.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment .High attention to detail and organization, especially with packaging specs and version control.Positive, proactive mindset with a solutions-oriented approach .Strong alignment with Mayorga’s values of sustainability, transparency, and community empowerment.Familiarity with e-commerce and digital performance designAwareness of email and social media design best practices (Instagram, TikTok, Meta ads)Soft Skills
