Portfolio Solutions Senior Underwriter - Mexico / Colombia Job Summary The Portfolio Solutions Senior Underwriter will oversee the underwriting strategy for the assigned first party lines portfolio in LatAm, focusing on driving profitable growth and managing risk exposure. You will enjoy the opportunity to fully apply and hone your underwriting and marketing skills while building relationships with our clients, brokers and business partners. This role requires a deep understanding of commercial insurance products, market trends, facultative reinsurance, and underwriting best practices. The Portfolio Solutions Senior Underwriter will be tasked in all functions and associated processes, procedures, controls and systems necessary for enabling and facilitating efficient and effective onboarding, structuring, management, oversight and monitoring of Portfolio Solutions business emanating from the assigned territory in LSM West. Job Responsibilities : Strategy and Planning
- Support the development of the annual business plan for the Underwriting division and ensure delivery of the plan in accordance with stated risk tolerances
- Contribute and participate in all meetings in order to share and develop strategy, knowledge and best practice
- Contribute new ideas and concepts to support the development and delivery of the business plan Delivery
- Establish and strengthen relationships with brokers, industry bodies, business partners, reinsurers and colleagues, to maximize influence and achieve business objectives
- Demonstrate understanding and awareness of market dynamics and market cycles to drive and enhance business performance
- Continually develop expertise and technical knowledge through appropriate development initiatives
- Underwrite new and renewal reinsurance programs in accordance with the business plan and personal authority to meet business objectives, including :
- Negotiating rates, terms and conditions for existing and new business
- Compliance with the production and issue of documentation in accordance with contract certainty requirements
- Support the new business initiatives, including the due diligence and onboarding processes where the appropriate level of quality standard is met.
- Understand and implement our Portfolio Solutions framework, in particular our scale of delegation and the associated levels of due diligence / oversight required and ensure appropriate levels of knowledge sharing with the local teams in the countries.
- Analysis of the existing portfolio to identify progress towards business objectives
- Ensure entries are properly recorded onto relevant systems in a timely manner whilst ensuring accuracy of data with relation to both underwriting and aggregate exposures
- Assist with the drafting, and ongoing management including midterm changes, of Agreements between LSM and our Portfolio Solutions Business Partners Policy, Process and Procedures
- Compliance with all applicable internal and external laws, regulations, policies, procedures and guidance
- Adhere to underwriting standards, instructions and best practice methodology in order to minimize risk

- Manage the external audit process of the programs in collaboration with the Audit Manager, including coordinating resulting actions from audit reports. Preparation, Training and Experience : Bachelor's degree. Engineering, Business, Finance, Insurance, or related field is preferred.7+ years of progressive first party lines underwriting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior property underwriting role.Expert-level knowledge of first party lines products, policy language, underwriting, catastrophe modeling, and pricing.Experience in facultative reinsurance or treaty reinsurance.Direct or indirect experience in managing delegated business (affinity, facility scheme, digital brokers, coverholder or MGA binder business) preferred.Knowledge and experience of market practices and regulations for Portfolio Solutions (affinity, facility, scheme, portfolio solutions, coverholder and MGA binder).Self- starter with strong initiative and demonstrated capacity to achieve project deliverables on time.Business analytics skills critical – demonstrates a measured and structured approach to analysis, data & logic driven with a measurable rationale in approach and follows a clear logic.Comfortable reviewing detailed information, piecing it together and preparing summarized case files with clear & efficient communication.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Enjoys being a collaborative team player.Comfortable with an agile way of working, for example being part of multiple virtual teams that are formed from time to time to focus on specific tasks or projects.Ability to communicate in Spanish & English.
