Purchasing Manager – MRO and Stores

FPC Bangor is working with a large Maine paper mill looking for a Purchasing Manager to manage all phases of the purchasing operation. The Purchasing Manager will ensure timely supply of goods and or / services that are critical to the plant’s ability to meet its core business objectives.Strategically develops and implements supply chain strategies, evaluate suppliers and negotiate contracts to achieve high quality goods.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Maintain adherence to Company policies and safety guidelines.
  • Manage supplier relationships
  • Negotiate contracts
  • Evaluate quality, pricing, reliability, technical support and availability of goods and services.
  • Develop purchasing strategies that ensure availability of required inventory consistent to the Company’s budget
  • Optimize P&L contribution through development and execution of cost reduction strategic initiatives
  • Develop strategy to minimize impact of market inflation
  • Provide leadership for direct reports

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • BS degree from accredited college / university preferred but not required.
  • 5+ years’ experience in procurement / materials management / supply chain or relevant experience in pulp and paper industry.
  • Experience negotiating supplier contracts
  • Effective leadership skills
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
